"It's more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it.
Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?" -Dries Van Noten
Mrs. Taylor Tomasi Hill is the crimson-haired streetstyle star who is known as much for her “work” on the streets (and in front of Tommy Ton’s camera) as her work for Marie Claire, where she was (until just a couple days ago!) the Style and Accessories Director. (Congrats on M.O-ve!) In our latest installment of “Fashion Offices” with our fine friends at WhoWhatWear, we got way deep in Taylor’s way chic workspace, which was filled with neon bright bags, a rare Fendi and a Tabitha Simmons showstopper—all of which you can find in the November issue! Her colourful (and quirky) cubical was exactly what we expected to find—because, after all, a women’s workspace is an extension of her self, right? Just when you think you’ve seen it all—or, as Taylor taught us, “On aura tout vu” en français!—you see this. Taylor practically grew up in the biz, acting as the “popcorn girl” in her parent’s accessories showroom in Dallas, where she was writing orders by the age of 10! After graduating from the Pratt Institute with a degree in Industrial Design, Taylor got her first taste of the mag world with an internship at W in (where else?) the accessories department. (Fun fact: Both Taylor and our very own, Erin, worked alongside W’s veteran fashion director, Alex White, assisting her on photoshoots and editorial content.) Her internship eventually led to a full-time position as the Fashion Market editor, which Taylor held before moving over to Teen Vogue to be back in the world of bags and bling. Amidst her chaotic editorial duties, TTH is busy as the creative consultant for Sigerson Morrison and TheRunThrough.com, a website by Meggan Crum and Mandy Tang that will revolutionize the way editors work. She's also currently creating a collection with Lane Crawford’s fashion director, Sarah Rutson, slated to hit shelves in January. (Mark that on your calendar, kids!) As if that's not enough, Taylor recently transformed from editor to model in the latest issue of The Block mag, styled by Cov-fave, James Worthington-DeMolet. And we gotta hand it to the fiery go-getter, who ignited the flame under us to start The Coveteur-- where would we be without her? We know what you’re thinking. And the answer is, “Yes, she’s superhuman.”
