"It's more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it.
Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?" -Dries Van Noten

The Coveteur Celebrates Our 1 Year Anniversary

A Retrospective of Past Coveteurs. Worldwide

We launched The Coveteur a year ago today with a small, but strong concept: go inside the closets and homes of today’s tastemakers and bring you—our faithful followers—a chance to see where their sartorial choices are made. What started with the “Original 6” grew to a full-fledged roster of cultural influencers. In just 365 days, “the little site that could” blossomed into cult-favourite thanks to all of you. We’re beyond proud of what we’ve built and want to say thank you for continuing to support our voyeuristic idea and, for above all, helping us spend our days doing what we love. From Hudson Kroenig to Rachel Zoe, we would not be where we are without our Coveteurs. We are forever indebted to our enthusiastic subjects, who graciously welcomed us into their homes, showered us with champagne and cupcakes and allowed us to rummage through their treasures. We’ve traveled to Paris with CHANEL, collaborated with WhoWhatWear, joined forces with Vogue, Teen Vogue and ELLE, were crowned “Blog of the Year” by NET-A-PORTER, collaborated with The Webster in Miami and even had our own exhibit at Holt Renfrew. Today, we reflect on the year and bring you “InYerFace,” a project started by Jake Rosenberg, our official photographer. We caught up with some of our favourites to reflect on their experience of being Coveteur’d. The saying is true – “Time flies when you’re having fun.”

My favourite part of being Coveteur'd was having you guys come into my world for the afternoon. Being able to tell all the stories of where my possessions came from brought back a lot of amazing memories. I try and tell myself that all these things are just 'stuff' but when you get a chance to reflect on it you realize in some odd way they are tangible pieces of you that leave a story of your taste behind. Whether superficial or not, you can't deny objects can sometimes possess a greater meaning.Ryan Korban

My favourite part of being Coveteur'd was going through my closet and re-discovering great items - whether they were gifts or something I bought, they all made me think of a person or place that meant something to me. I also loved the original photography and making my closet really part of the home. It’s nice to get a glimpse of people's spaces in NYC and how they relate to the person. I am not a minimalist the way my apartment is, but it makes for a nice backdrop.Karla Martinez

My favorite part of being Coveteur’d was the relationship I formed with the brains, beauty and talent behind the site, Erin, Stephanie and Jake. We laughed through the entire shoot, and post shoot, after hanging dresses, handbags and necklaces basically everywhere but the toilet in my small one bedroom apartment, Jake asked “So do you even have a kitchen?” Erin and Stephanie were appalled and scolded him “Jake! You cannot just ask people where their kitchen is”. No , you probably shouldn’t ask 99% of the coveteurs they have shot where their kitchen is, but lucky for them I’m someone that found it pretty funny. After that, I opened the cabinet “doors” hiding my kitchen, and we quickly became friends over animal crackers taken from that very kitchen. I’ve been honored and lucky to have worked with the Coveteur numerous times since that first shoot, and I cannot wait to see what their second year has to offer.Mary-Kate Steinmiller

It’s an honor to be featured by tastemakers who also explore the process and production side of fashion. My favourite part of being Coveteur'd was of course the obvious, being bestowed the honour and sincere pleasure to work with the "Dream Team" of Stephanie, Erin and Jake and spending the day with people who were most respectful, well versed in fashion and who clearly appreciated and shared my passion for the collectable pieces, which I have been so fortunate to have acquired over many years...

However when those sweet little squeals of sheer delight came from the mouths of Stephanie and Erin as closet door after closet door was opened, I knew right then that this was going to a very special friendship. The energy and excitement that their presence brought into my home coupled with their amazing knowledge of the history of many of my collectable pieces was very impressive!

The best part, though, was reviewing the "behind the scenes" of my shoot about a month later and there they were... photographs of the beautiful Stephanie and Erin adorned in a few of my pieces and looking damn good in them!
